Awesome insight. I'm trying to draw comics and as someone who is mainly inspired by movies, #10 hits hard. I can't help but picture 16:9 shots in my head. I need to read more comics I guess.

Are you following Aubrey Sitterson? He's posting some amazing comic spreads that really show the range of what you can do on a page. Check out these pages here: https://substack.com/profile/59662910-aubrey-sitterson/note/c-79512303

While you should try to break away from that movie mentality 16:9 all the time.... I can' help but think about Darwin Cooke's DC: The New Frontier, which is largely done in 3 (close to) 16:9 panels per page throughout almost all of the book.

Maybe I shouldn't be pointing you to the exceptions to the rule, but it's worth a look.

Excellent advice here for comic creators (and also my husband and I are weeping softly over that canceled Back to the Future manga).

I don't draw comics but I do draw origami diagrams - essentially a sequential story that starts with a flat sheet of paper and it ends with a lovely model. Your #1 is absolutely spot on. Love your stuff.
