Haha, nasty comment people are dumb. I tried to train an AI to do art for me (stable diffusion with various LORAs). It was so time consuming, and produced so few artworks I could actually use, that it was faster just to get some Andrew Loomis books and learn to do it myself.
I discovered all your techniques for myself and use them daily. I work full time as a stay at home mom homeschooling 7 kids with another due here soon. I have an hour in the morning and two hours at night to work on my graphic novel, and I can complete 1-2 pages a week. It's all about that time management and self-discipline. Also, study the pros and learn as many of their workflow shortcuts as possible. :-D
Your reply to that comment made me both chuckle and just feel exasperated at how rude people are to folks making positive contributions to life. Trolls are bewildering. Also, loving this Substack.
People will really get mad over anything. Besides, how could it be any fun to let the AI do all the drawing and creating? At the end of the day, we do this even though it's hard because we also have fun and enjoy it along the way. Seeing the hard work I've put into my drawing pay off as my art continues to improve is way more satisfying than just throwing everything into a machine and seeing what it spits out in five minutes.
Personally, when I get too hard on myself about not having enough time/energy/whatever, I often recall the advice you've given over the years about chipping away at a project bit by bit, even if you only have an hour. It's still an hour closer to being finished!
I did a time audit a few years ago but it looks like I gotta do it again because some things changed since then and it’s been difficult to figure out how to get back in the groove of working on art as much as possible each week.

This is so great. 1-2 pages a week while also homeschooling SEVEN kids and pregnant?! You're Superwoman!
60% sure that guy was a bot
Wonderful wisdom!
Thanks for sharing these videos & thoughts!
My friend @kmcarroll has like, 18 kids and she still churns out a page a day!
Haha, she actually commented on this thread! She's amazing.
Jake hits, he scores! Good responses.

This is awesome, I’m glad I read this. I’ll have to check out the links.
Not that we could expect anything else from an AI bro :P
I thought it was good. 🥹
