I never saw it before - it's lovely! I love the nods to Watterson and Schulz, too. (Well, to Watterson it's more than a nod. I love how you drew his trees!)
Lovely story. It's cool to see how this character got his start and continued on through your art over the years. Also I'm ding dang impressed with your handwriting in your journal! So neat and clean!
WOW! Thanks for sharing your Little Bot & Sparrow journey with us. The comic is terrific & the book looks amazing! I see the Watterson influence peeking through the comic, but the lush images of the book are something else. The inktober drawings are also full of story in every inch. So. Much. Greatness! Very special. And your creative notes were a very interesting look at your process too. Thanks again for sharing!
I love the idea that our important stories can pop up in different forms across a lifetime. Maybe it has something to do with us changing or our skill evolving to tell stories in different ways.
I would LOVE to see a Bot and Sparrow graphic novel where Bot has all kinds of adventures reconnecting with Sparrow. Maybe at the end Bot ends up with a little air ship so he can travel with Sparrow. In the process Bot could explore a whole new world - meet all kinds of friends and have all kinds of adventures.

Oh this comic is definitely a love letter to Bill Watterson. haha.
This comic hits so dang hard to this day. Even if it got turned into a movie, I think the 2004 comic is its purest form
Thank you Jake for sharing the bot and the sparrow and now the "story of its story". The children's book is my household favorite!

Maybe you should pitch it to Netflix...
